VOLUNTEERS COLLECTED 54 TONS OF TRASH

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ ‘Run and collect’ voluntary campaign co-hosted by the Youth Development Department of the capital city, Environment Department of Ulaanbaatar, Transport Department of Ulaanbaatar and Governor’s Office of Bayanzurkh district took place on May 26. The campaign aims at enhancing citizen participation in environment protection and preventing from soil, water contamination and infectious diseases caused by waste. A total of 1408 volunteers including officials of 24 organizations, members of Mongolian Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation collected 54.02 tons of garbage along the river from Gachuurt bridge to Gurvan Modnii rashaan, Marshall Bridge to Bayanzurkh mountain and Khar usan Tokhoi to Mongol Shiltgeen Camp. “Environmental pollution caused by garbage is harmful to health. Thus, people who run and exercise united under the theme ‘Run and collect’ to collect garbage while exercising and call people on dumping waste at disposal site. People who collected the trash wll not litter in the future and they will be exemplary to others.
