Mini-shop for processing fruits and vegetables opened in south of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Aug. 15, 2018. / Kabar /. Opening of a mini-shop for processing fruits, berries and vegetables is held in Korgon village of leilek region in the south of Kyrgyzstan. Leilek region grows more than 1500 tons of apricots annually, and the harvest is exported mainly as raw materials. However, by organizing the processing of apricot and other fruits, farmers could export finished products - dried apricots, jams, dried fruits - at higher prices. Usually the shop processes up to 300 kg of fruit every day, during the season the shop processes up to 600 kg of fruit. In June-July the season of drying apricots, draining plums, in August - pears, and in September and October - apples. According to local authorities, it is also possible to process in the mini-shop dried melons, berries, medicinal herbs, pastilles and other products from fruit, vegetables and berries growing here. Currently the management of the mini-shop discuss with local authorities the packaging and the sale of products, the possibility of opening sales outlets in markets and checkpoints on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. There are 5 shops for fruit processing in the territory of Leilek region. Local authorities are working to open such mini-shops in each rural government. A significant contribution to the opening of the shop was made by local self-government, which allocated a separate room to the entrepreneur. Also, local authorities helped with obtaining the necessary permits and helped in the sale of products. In addition, the Government of Japan through the UN WFP has acted as a donor for the opening of the mini-shop.
