Parliamentary delegation of South Korea meets with members of Jogorku Kenesh

Bishkek, Sept. 27, 2018. /Kabar/. The parliamentary delegation of South Korea met with the Friendship Group of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) for Cooperation with the Republic of Korea, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported. The head of the Friendship Group of the Kyrgyz Parliament of the Republic, MP Aida Ismailova, welcoming guests and noting that the Kyrgyz side is always glad to see parliamentarians from the Land of the Morning Calm, stressed that despite the active political dialogue and interparliamentary cooperation, trade turnover and economic ties between the two friendly countries do not meet the existing potential. She noted that the Jogorku Kenesh is ready to provide legislative support to Korea's investment projects and monitor the activities of government agencies in this area. The Kyrgyz side is interested in increasing exports of organic agricultural products to Korea. "We welcome Korea's New North Policy aimed at strengthening interaction with the countries of Central Asia, and we support the establishment of the Economic Cooperation Committee in the northern direction. The Kyrgyz side is ready to develop its economic projects for participation in the Korean initiative,” A. Ismailova said. At the same time, Ismailova particularly drew the attention of the Korean parliamentarians on the question of improving the conditions for the stay of Kyrgyz migrants in South Korea. Members of the Friendship Group of the Jogorku Kenesh on Cooperation with the Republic of Korea Aybek Altynbekov, Ziyadin Jamaldinov, Avtandil Kulbarakov, Saidulla Nyshanov, Jyrgalbek Turuskulov, Abylkayyr Uzakbaev noted with regret the existing difficulties in obtaining Korean visas by Kyrgyz citizens, suggesting that the Korean side consider easing visa requirements for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic. Some variants of investing in the construction of small hydropower stations were also proposed. In turn, the head of the delegation Lee Jong Bae said that all proposals of deputies will be thoroughly considered and decisions will be taken on each of them. The sides expressed the opinion that this meeting will be another step towards the further development of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Korea.
