Improved fuel to be produced in cooperation with JICA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The first and second phases of the Capacity Development Project for Air Pollution Control in Ulaanbaatar City project were successfully implemented in 2009-2017, according to the Memorandum of Understanding established between the Government of Mongolia and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Steering Committee meeting of the third phase of the project, which started in November, was held on December 12. The meeting was chaired by B.Tsatsral, head of the Air Pollution Reduction Department of the Capital city. The project activities and the stakeholders engagement were discussed and some directions and plans were clarified at the meeting. Within the third phase of the project, improved briquettes will be produced and supplied to households and air quality of the area, where the briquettes were delivered will be measured and compared with the previous indicators. It is also planned to continue focusing on measures to reduce mobile source pollution, accreditation of water heaters provided during the previous phases of the project and capacity development of environmental measurement monitoring.
