N. Korean World Cup team arrives for Asian qualifier with S. Korea

INCHEON, March 29 (Yonhap) -- North Korea's 25-member World Cup squad arrived in
Seoul Sunday for a final-round Asian qualifier with South Korea.

The North Koreans flew here by way of China a day after they
clinched a 2-0 victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Pyongyang. The win put
North Korea at top of Group 2 which also includes Iran and Saudi Arabia.
North Korea led the group with 10 points, while South Korea trails with eight
points.
The UAE, with three straight losses, has virtually dropped out of contention but
Iran and Saudi Arabia still have mathematical chances to earn a berth in the
finals.
Security was tight as the North Koreans arrived at Incheon International Airport.
About 120 security officials guarded the North Koreans, keeping them away from
journalists.
South Korea is seeking its seventh straight World Cup ticket while North Korea
has not earned a berth since it made a remarkable run to the quarterfinals in
1966 in London.
