Seoul stocks open higher on tech, auto gains

SEOUL, March 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks opened higher Monday, fueled by
electronics and carmaker gains, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 1.12 points, or 0.09
percent, to 1,238.63 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Strong net purchasing by foreign and institutional investors buoyed the key index
after the Bank of Korea said the country's current account swung to a surplus of
US$3.68 billion in February.
The local currency was trading at 1,363 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 14 won from Friday's close.
