Korean documentary sold to overseas broadcaster for US$100,000

SEOUL, March 31 (Yonhap) -- A two-part documentary on dinosaurs produced in South Korea has been sold to a multinational firm for nearly US$100,000, the highest price ever for a Korean documentary, a local broadcasting institute said Tuesday.

The documentary, "Dinosaurs on the Korean Peninsula," created by public education
channel EBS, was sold to RTLDisney at the Marche International des Programmes de
Television, an annual media market held in Cannes, France, the Korea Broadcasting
Institute (KBI) said in a press release.
Based in Germany, RTLDisney was co-established by German broadcaster RTL and
America's Disney channel.
Each of the two episodes was sold for about $50,000, nearly double the previous
record price paid for a Korean documentary, according to KBI.
"Dinosaurs???" aired here in November last year, and recorded the highest viewer
rating of any EBS documentary, largely due to the advanced computer graphics
depicting the prehistoric reptiles.
