Ssangyong Motor`s auto sales plunge 75.7 pct in March

(ATTN: UPDATES throughout with details, three-month figures)
SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- Ssangyong Motor Co., South Korea's smallest automaker,
said Wednesday its vehicle sales plunged 75.7 percent last month, as consumers
shunned purchase of the potentially bankrupt company's vehicles.
Ssangyong, which entered court receivership in February under a weight of debt,
sold 2,458 units in March, with exports plummeting 94.1 percent to 339 units and
domestic sales diving 51.9 percent to 2,119 units, the company said in a
statement.
In the first three months of this year, Ssangyong's sales plunged 76 percent to
6,471 units.
On Tuesday, about 1,800 minority shareholders of Ssangyong sued 13 current and
former executives at Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., accusing the Chinese
parent of using its position to take Ssangyong's technology at a below-market
price.
