Seoul stocks up 2.88 pct in late morning

SEOUL, April 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded up 2.88 percent late
Thursday morning on improving economic indicators and an expected rise in
corporate performances, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 35.46 points to
1,268.82 as of 11:20 a.m.
"Investors are returning to the stock market amid improving economic indicators
and expectations of better corporate earnings," said Oh Jae-yol, an analyst at
IBK Securities.
Most sectors traded higher with tech shares and financial stocks leading the
overall gain.
The local currency was trading at 1,356.9 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., up 22.6 won from Wednesday's close, after the Bank of Korea said the
nation's foreign reserves reached US$206.34 billion as of end-March, up $4.8
billion from a month earlier.
