Seoul stocks open higher on U.S. gains
SEOUL, April 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started stronger Friday on Wall Street gains and world leaders' economic stimulus efforts, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 11.05 points, or
0.87 percent, to 1,288.02 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks finished sharply higher Wednesday after the leaders of the Group of
20 advanced and industrializing nations in London decided to make concerted
efforts to fight the global recession and shore up the world financial market.
The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 2.79 percent and the tech-laced Nasdaq
soared 3.28 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,317.05 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., up 17.45 won from Thursday's close.
