Southern Governor lays foundation stone of Khalifa Health Centre project

Manama, June 27 (BNA): Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stressed the ongoing implementation of development projects to further improve services for citizens in the Southern Governorate. This came as he laid the foundation stone of Khalifa Health City Centre project, in the presence of Minister of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al Saleh and senior officials from the public and private sectors. The Southern Governor described laying the foundation stone as a historic opportunity asserting the Southern Governorate’s resolve to exert more efforts in carrying out the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. He said the project aims to achieve citizens’ aspirations in the Southern Governorate according to a strategic and well-defined plan for the pioneering model city since it was named by HM the King. He also praised the tremendous support of HRH the Premier to the project which is considered as an outstanding developmental edifice aimed at serving citizens in the Southern Governorate. For her part, Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al Saleh described laying the foundation stone of the project as an added value to the kingdom’s honourable record of achievements to cater to citizens’ health needs. She also lauded HRH the Prime Minister’s support to the project and its rapid implementation. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), she pointed out that the health centre will be number 29 on the list of health centres in Bahrain with a capacity that will include all citizens in Askar, Jaw and Al-Dour. She also pointed out the Health Ministry’s keenness on outfitting the centre with the needed equipment before it is inaugurated to provide top quality health services similar to the ones offered by other centres. She also noted that all health centres will operate under the Health Insurance System and self-management to enjoy financial and administrative autonomy that will be overseen by a Board of Trustees for each health Centre. For his part, the Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Minister said the health Centre was designed by the Works Ministry and put to tender in category “A”. He added the ministry will oversee the construction of the project which will be fully financed by the National Bank of Bahrain. The project will be carried out at an estimated cost of BD 5,675,000 on a land plot of 17,244 sqm and a construction area of 10,445 sqm. It will feature many facilities, including a reception hall, a cafeteria, a medical warehouse, a lab, a pharmacy, 12 treatment rooms at the emergency department, 12 consultation clinics, an x-ray section, the administration offices on the first floor, 6 dental clinics and a maternity and vaccination departments.
