Japan, Turkey Agree to Accelerate EPA Talks
Tokyo, July 1 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed on Monday to accelerate negotiations to conclude a bilateral economic partnership agreement early.
At a meeting over dinner at the prime minister's office in Tokyo, the two leaders also shared the view that their countries will continue cooperating to establish a science technology university in Turkey as agreed in 2013.
There remains strong potential for Japan's cooperation with Turkey, a regional power, Abe said, underscoring his intention to emphasize collaboration not only in politics and economy but also in education and disaster reduction.
Abe and Erdogan exchanged views on the Iranian situation following Abe's visit to the Middle East country in mid-June. They also discussed Syria.
