SABIC CEO Mohamed Al-Mady awarded Petrochemical Heritage Award


Riyadh, April 08, SPA -- Mohamed Al-Mady, CEO and Vice Chairman of
SABIC, was awarded recently the 2009 Petrochemical Heritage Award at
the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association’s International
Petrochemical Conference in San Antonio, Texas.


Al-Mady was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the
petrochemical community and, as a recipient of this year’s award, he
joins a select group of honorees chosen in previous years for their
distinguished service in the industry.


The Petrochemical Heritage Award was established in 1997 to
recognize leaders who inspire achievement and promote public
understanding of the modern sciences, industries, and economies.


The award was presented on behalf of the Chemical Heritage
Foundation, the Founders Club and the National Petrochemical and
Refiners Association at the NPRA’s annual Symposium on Innovation and
Entrepreneurship, according to a press release of Sabic.


Mohamed Al-Mady has been Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) since July, 1998. He
joined SABIC in 1976 with a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering
from University of Colorado, USA in 1973 and a Master’s Degree in
Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming, USA in 1975. He
has held various key positions within the company. In addition, he
is Chairman of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association
(GPCA), a member of the Board of the Boao Forum, a Fellow with the
London Business School, a member of the World Economic Forum’s
International Business Council, and serves as a member to a number of
university and business advisory boards.
