Seoul shares open lower on earnings woes
SEOUL, April 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Monday as
investors remain concerned about the first-quarter earnings outlook, analysts
said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) sank 0.31 points, or 0.02
percent, to 1,335.73 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Corporate earnings in the January-March period are widely expected to have
declined due to the global economic slump.
The local currency was trading at 1,336.40 to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 3.40 won from Friday's close.
