S. Korea's crude steel output capacity to reach 64.2 mln tons this year
SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's crude steel production capacity is
expected to reach 64.17 million tons this year on the back of increased facility
expansion, a report showed Tuesday.
The figure is up from last year's 60.14 million tons, according to the report
from the Korea Iron & Steel Association.
The association said local steelmakers are planning to spend around 10 trillion
won in upgrading and expanding production facilities this year with POSCO, the
country's leading steelmaker, expected to spend 7.3 trillion won.
The country's crude steel output capacity is expected to top 70-million tons in
2010, it said.
