SKT to launch WiBro service in Jordan next month

SEOUL, April 15 (Yonhap) -- SK Telecom Co. (SKT), South Korea's leading mobile
phone operator, said Wednesday it is set to launch wireless broadband (Wibro)
Internet service in Jordan next month.

The company said it recently signed a deal worth US$7 million with Jordan to
provide the country with WiBro service-related equipment and maintenance.
"We began to set up a network for the WiBro service in the Jordanian capital of
Amman last month, and the service will be provided to more areas in the future,"
an SKT official said.
WiBro, a major 4G wireless communications standard, enables high-speed Internet
connectivity even when a user is in motion and is an improved version of WiMax,
developed by the world's largest chipmaker Intel Corp.
