Seoul stocks open lower on U.S. falls
SEOUL, April 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start
Wednesday, taking a cue from overnight Wall Street losses, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 12.7 points, or 0.95
percent, to 1,329.93 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks tumbled on Tuesday as investor anxiety heightened on weak March
retail sales. The Down Jones industrial average shed 1.71 percent and the
tech-heavy Nasdaq declined 1.67 percent.
The South Korean currency was trading at 1,330.25 won to the U.S. dollar as of
9:15 a.m., down 6.75 won from Tuesday's close.
