Saudi Finance Minister calls for greater Arab Economic Cooperation

Amman. April 15, SPA -- Saudi Minister of Finance Dr Ibrahim al-Assaf
has underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation among the Arab
countries in the economic domain.


Addressing the inaugural session of the Arab Financial Commission
here today, Dr Al-Assaf called for taking suitable economic measures
for enhancing the capabilities of the Arab financial institutions.


The economic summit held in Kuwait last January emphasized the
importance of the institutions as regards carrying out the decisions
adopted by the summit which aimed at enhancing efforts for realizing
economic prosperity, social promotion and sustainable development in
the Arab countries, he elaborated.


Dr Al-Assaf said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with
other Arab countries, has been working to develop the performance of
the financial institutions and boosting their role through
strengthening their financial situation.


Dr Al-Assaf arrived here last night at the head of the delegation
of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the two-day meeting.
