Freedom house recognizes Kyrgyzstan as leader in freedom in Central Asia

Bishkek, March 6, 2020 / Kabar /. Freedom House has published its annual Freedom in the World 2020 ranking.
According to the report, Kyrgyzstan is recognized as a leader in observance of rights and civil liberties in Central Asia and with 39 points it is classified as partly free. This list of countries contains 62 other countries of the world and territory.
The level of freedom in Kyrgyzstan is at the level of 39 points out of 100 possible, according to the level of political rights of the republic - 12 points out of 40, and the level of civil liberties - 27 out of 60 points.
The remaining countries of the region are classified as “not free” countries. For example, neighboring Uzbekistan scored only 10 points in the list, Kazakhstan - 23 points, Tajikistan - 9 points. The lowest indicator in terms of freedom was found in Turkmenistan, which scored only 2 points and was attributed by the authors of the report to not free countries. It should be noted that this list contains 48 countries and territories.
If compared with the CIS countries, then Kyrgyzstan was among the leading countries there. For example, Ukraine scored 62 points, Georgia - 61, Moldova - 60 and Armenia - 53 points. The rest of the CIS countries scored low points and were classified as non-free countries - Russia - 20 points, Belarus - 19, Azerbaijan - 10.
The best indicator on the list is, as always, is Finland, Norway and Sweden. These countries scored 100 points and are classified as completely free countries.
At the end of the list were North Korea - 3 points, Eritrea - 2 points, South Sudan - 2 points, Turkmenistan - 2 points, Syria - 0 points
