Polish Embassy Distributes Packets Of Dates To Police

By V.Sankara KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with the Ramadan, the Polish Embassy in Malaysia is distributing packets of dates on selected days of the holy month to police personnel in recognition of their role as frontliners in keeping the COVID-19 cases in the country at bay. Ambassador of Poland to Malaysia, Prof Krzysztof Debnicki, said the initiative – mooted by the embassy’s Cultural Affairs Officer, Jo Anna E.Jurczyga – is made to show appreciation to the police who are instrumental in ensuring all parties adhere to the Movement Control Order (MCO) to contain the spread of the deadly virus. “We are distributing the dates at the police check points within the Kuala Lumpur city centre and we thank the police officers on their tireless efforts of keeping all of us safe during the MCO,” he told Bernama. Commenting on the COVID-19 situation in Poland, the ambassador said that the pandemic-related death toll in Poland was among the lowest in Europe where the country so far recorded some 12,000 positive cases with 500 deaths. He also commended the Malaysian government’s measures in extending the MCO, currently in its third phase, until May 12 – which have kept the COVID-19 cases in check. -- BERNAMA
