Indonesia's COVID-19 Tally At 17,514 Cases, 59 Deaths Overnight

JAKARTA, May 17 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s COVID-19 infection tally surged to 17,514 cases overnight, with 59 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Indonesian government spokesman on Covid-19 matters, Achmad Yurianto said the country’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 1,148 since the first fatality was reported on March 11. “Over the last 24 hours until noon today, another 489 new cases were reported, while there are 35,800 patients under surveillance for COVID-19,” he said in his daily media briefing streamed on YouTube. Jakarta province recorded the highest death toll with 463 cases, followed by East Java (194 cases), West Java (110), Central Java (70) while the rest were in the other provinces. -- BERNAMA
