SK Energy wins exploration permits in two Australian oil fields

SEOUL, April 21 (Yonhap) -- SK Energy Co., South Korea's leading oil refiner,
said Tuesday that it has secured a right to develop two oil fields in Australia.
SK Energy owns a 50-percent stake in the two oil blocks located in the Outer
Browse Basin, northwest offshore Australia. The remaining stake is owned by
U.S.-based Hunt Oil Corp., according to the company.
SK Energy, with a daily refinement capacity of more than 1.12 million barrels, is
currently exploring and producing oil and gas in 32 fields in 17 countries whose
combined reserves reach 500 million barrels of crude.
SK Energy has a daily production of 36,000 barrels of crude and gas.
Shares of SK Energy were trading at 96,500 won (US$71.5) on the Seoul bourse as
of 1:37 p.m., down 0.72 percent.
