South, North Korea hold first talks in over a year on joint industrial venture
SEOUL, April 21 (Yonhap) -- South and North Korea will begin their first talks in
over a year on their joint industrial complex on Tuesday after a delay of more
than 12 hours, a government source in Seoul said.
"It is very likely the main meeting will take place at around 9 p.m.," the source
said, requesting anonymity.
Seoul's seven-member delegation crossed the military demarcation line at around
8:45 a.m. but had not been able to start the talks with their North Korean
counterparts.
Pyongyang proposed the talks last week, saying only that it had an "important
notice" to announce regarding the joint park on its border town of Kaesong, where
a South Korean worker is being held for the fourth week for criticizing its
political system.
Seoul demanded its access to the employee of Hyundai Asan Corp., a South Korean
company that operates the complex, but North Korea was not responsive yet,
officials said.
