Seoul stocks open higher on Wall Street rallies


SEOUL, April 22 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started higher Wednesday as
investor sentiment was buoyed by overnight rallies in U.S. markets, analysts
said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 3.94 points, or 0.29
percent, to 1,340.95 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Wall Street rebounded on financial gains Tuesday with the Dow Jones industrial
average rising 1.63 percent and the tech-dominated Nasdaq composite index
advancing 2.22 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,344.3 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
up 5.2 won from Tuesday's close.
