Ihsanoglu to speak on economic ties among Muslim countries in
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 27, SPA -- The Secretary General of
the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor
Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, who is in Kuala Lumpur, will participate in a
two-day International Conference on Islamic Economics and the
Economies of the OIC Countries, starting its deliberations tomorrow
in the Malaysian capital.
The conference, to be held at Istana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, is being
organized by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
At the opening ceremony of the conference, which will be held in
conjunction with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the OIC
establishment and the 25th anniversary of the IIUM, Ihsanoglu will
deliver a keynote speech on the role of the OIC in enhancing economic
cooperation among Muslim countries.
On the sidelines of this conference, Ihsanoglu will chair a special
workshop to be held as a follow-up on the implementation of the
recommendations of the First Symposium on Muslim Minorities in Asia
that was organized in Seoul, Korea, in July 2008.
The Secretary General is expected to hold bilateral meetings with a
number of Malaysian officials to discuss issues of mutual concern,
according to a press release of the OIC.
