Taiwan Showcases Dental Innovative Power

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The growing geriatric population, rising incidences of dental caries and other periodontal diseases have necessitated the need for access to better oral care, propelling Taiwan to further strengthen its innovative power in the dental industry. President and chief executive officer of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Leonor Lin said Taiwan’s dental materials industry covers 94 per cent of the entire global dentistry product line, and its output value is projected to reach US$10 billion (US$1 = RM4.16) by 2025. "Over the past decade, products from Taiwan have shown the world its innovative power in the dental industry. "The existing medical environment, advanced health insurance data system and electronic and automated mechanical integration technology are great assets in this field,” she said in a statement released in conjunction with the Taiwan Excellence 'Dentistry of Excellence' online product launch. The showcase is centred on current advancements being made in digital dentistry diagnostic imaging techniques, dental 3D printing and dental implant solutions. These include EPED's Implant Real-time Imaging System that provides flexibly and exceptionally customised solutions in dental training, as well as, dental impressions and dental curriculum and Saturn Imaging's ImplantMax, which offers dentists medical images, manipulators, and augmented reality navigation according to clinical considerations of the patient's bone condition to assist with the diagnosis and teaching process. TAITRA will also hold the 'Taiwan-ASEAN Medical Device and Innovation Forum' on Oct 16 to present and demonstrate Taiwan's latest products covering different areas in the medical industry. -- BERNAMA
