GOF Arrests Indonesian Man Believed To Be Drug Trafficker
KALABAKAN, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested an Indonesian man believed to be a drug trafficker in front of a house at the Bukit Tukok oil palm plantation near here, on Saturday.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) commander Ahmad Fuad Othman said the suspect, a 20-year-old illegal immigrant, was arrested at 4.30 pm during a long-distance patrol conducted by GOF under Ops Benteng.
“The suspect, who was behaving suspiciously, was arrested with five packets of syabu drugs worth RM4,200 (47.47 grammes) in his sling bag.
“Before that, the suspect tried to flee from the GOF personnel on duty but was detained and was found without any valid identity documents,” he said in a statement here Monday.
Also confiscated from the suspect was RM270 and a digital scale unit. All the seized items and the suspect were taken to the Tawau district police headquarters for further action.
In the meantime, he requested the cooperation of all parties to report any illegal activities by contacting the ESSCom Operations Centre at 089-863181.
According to him, ESSCom, which consists of the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency was constantly tightening security by conducting aggressive patrols in an integrated manner to curb cross-border crimes.
