Tourism Malaysia In AVIAREPS Southeast Asia Virtual Roadshow
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 (Bernama) -- Tourism Malaysia is participating in the virtual tourism exhibition AVIAREPS Southeast Asia Virtual Roadshow, which is being held today and tomorrow.
In a statement Wednesday, Tourism Malaysia said the roadshow, the first of its kind in a fully 3D environment, allows both sellers and buyers to interact using their individual avatar that provides an illusion of a real exhibition, within the safe limits and in the comfort of everyone’s location of choice without border limitation.
According to the statement, 33 sellers are showcasing their products, destinations and services virtually to over 500 leading outbound agencies from ASEAN countries.
"Online business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking appointments allow both sellers and buyers to connect with their preferred interests and maximise tourism business networking opportunities, recovering the old ties while building a new one.
"Under Tourism Malaysia’s four booths in the exhibition, 16 participants comprising destination management companies, hoteliers and theme parks are involved together with Tourism Malaysia," it said.
Tourism Malaysia also stated that State Tourism Offices representing Sarawak and Penang are also participating in the event.
By participating in the event, Tourism Malaysia hopes to continue promoting Malaysia as a leading holiday destination as the exhibition serves as the best alternative platform for buyers and sellers worldwide to discuss their travel businesses amid the current COVID-19 pandemic that has been limiting physical interaction and travel.
The statement quoted Tourism Malaysia director-general, Zulkifly Md Said as saying that they hoped to learn, connect and address issues as part of the recovery efforts to improve Malaysia's tourism industry.
"In the long run, we hope to achieve our goal in making Malaysia the preferred holiday destination once again," he said.
