Emirates Red Crescent Provides Aid To Pahang Flood Victims

By Muammar Eusouffi Zainol Abidin KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 21 (Bernama) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE), through the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), took the initiative to provide aid to the victims affected by the floods in Pahang. The relief mission, in collaboration with the Pahang State Government, focused on several severely affected districts, including Pekan, Kuantan, Bera, Maran, Temerloh and Lipis. UAE Ambassador to Malaysia Khalid Ghanim Mohammad Al-Ghaith said the mission, which started on January 12, was immediately implemented upon the instruction of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with a follow-up by the Head of ERC, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The ambassador said the assistance is aimed at alleviating the burden faced by the flood victims due to the challenging times that they endured. “The UAE team has distributed essentials including food baskets, mattresses, blankets, detergents, baby diapers, sarongs (for men and women) and electrical goods. "A total of 52,000 victims (about 7,500 families) benefited from this assistance," he told Bernama, here, today. Meanwhile, Al-Ghaith thanked the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as well as the Pahang State Government for facilitating his team's efforts in distributing the aid. He also praised the coordination and cooperation of the various state agencies, especially the Pahang State Secretary's Office. --BERNAMA
