Weak Earthquake Detected in Sulawesi Sea

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- A weak earthquake, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, was detected in Sulawesi Sea at 1.42 am Friday. The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement, said the tremor could possibly be felt in Tawau district of east Malaysian state Sabah. The epicentre of the quake was 197 kilometre south of Semporna (in Sabah) and at a depth of 141 kilometres. MetMalaysia will continue to monitor the situation. -- BERNAMA
