Thai Authorities Seize 510 Kg Of Methamphetamine, 60,000 Yaba Pills In Pattani

PATTANI, March 11 (Bernama) -- Thai authorities have seized 510 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, also known as ‘ice’, and 60,000 Yaba pills believed to be destined to be smuggled into Malaysia. Pattani police chief Maj Gen Pol Pitchawut Sa-gnuansombutsiri said the joint army and police operation also led to the arrest of three local men, aged between 29 and 62, on March 6. “Acting on information and intelligence, the authorities detained a lorry at the Pattani-Songkhla border. “Checks on the lorry found 510 kg of methamphetamine and 60,000 Yaba pills hidden in small tea boxes in the vehicle's cargo hold. “The estimated value of the drugs is over 100 million Thai baht,” he told a media conference here Wednesday. He added that the authorities also seized three four-wheel-drive vehicles, land, bank accounts and jewellery worth 11.6 million baht. -- BERNAMA
