Harimau Malaya Set To Resume Asian Qualifiers Journey In June
KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- The remaining group stage matches in the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022/AFC Asian Cup China 2023 for the national football squad would take place between June 3 to 15.
According to a posting on the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) website today, Harimau Malaya will be facing the United Arab Emirates on June 3, group leader Vietnam on June 11 and Thailand on June 15.
However, the venues of the matches were not disclosed and would most probably be announced later.
In February, FIFA, the world football governing body, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had announced the postponement of the remaining 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup Group G qualifiers that were supposed to take place in March.
After having played a total of five matches in the qualifiers, Malaysia has collected nine points to be in the second spot of Group G behind group leader Vietnam (11 points), while Thailand is at the third spot with eight points, the UAE (six points) with a game in hand, and Indonesia at the bottom, having yet to secure a point.
