Malaysian Embassy In Bangkok Spreads Cheer To The Needy In Conjunction With Eid-Ul Fitr
By Linda Khoo Hui Li
BANGKOK, May 8 (Bernama) -- Amid the misery caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand, the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok is doing its bit to spread cheer to the needy and underprivileged Thais in conjunction with the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr celebration.
Led by Malaysia's Ambassador to Thailand Jojie Samuel, the embassy handed over daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil as well as basic toiletries worth 20,000 baht to 20 single-mother families living near Bobae Market in Bangkok.
Besides that, Tourism Malaysia Bangkok as well as officials and staff from Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok also contributed stationery, food and masks to students at Madrasah Masjid Abdullanusorn.
“Alhamdulillah. The children will be very happy to receive stationery for daily learning routine,” Ustazah Halimah Malahim told Bernama after the items were handed over.
Meanwhile, Samuel said the COVID-19 pandemic has seen many of them lose their jobs, so the assistance extended today is very meaningful for them.
“We try to help them in whatever way we can by providing some necessities for their daily routine. We hope this little contribution will help ease their family's burden,” he added.
Also present was the deputy chief of mission at the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok, Suzilah Mohd Sidek.
