MANADO TO BE PROPOSED AS SEAT OF WOC-CTI SECRETARIAT
Manado, May 11 (ANTARA) - The government planned to propose Manado City, North Sulawesi, as the seat of the secretariat of the World Ocean Conference (WOC) and the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) Summit.
The Manado Ocean Declaration (MOD) starts from the area, so that it would be most appropriate for Manado City to become the seat of the WOC and CTI secretariat, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Freddy Numberi said here Monday.
He hoped the North Sulawesi provincial administration starts preparing the land and facilities supporting the secretariat's activities contributing to the smooth activities of WOC and CTI, especially now that Manado is now known by the world thanks to the successful international event.
Manado deserved to become the seat of the CTI secretariat in view of its strategic position in view of the 75,000 square kilometers coral reef triangle covering six countries Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Solomon Islands, and Timor Leste.
