INDONESIA TO HOLD PRODUCT EXPO MAY 13-17
Jakarta, May 12 (ANTARA) - Indonesia will hold a product expo called "PPI 2009" at the Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran, on May 13 -17, 2009, the chief organizer said.
PPI 2009 Chairman Dedi Mulyadi said here on Tuesday that imported goods in the past several years still dominated the domestic market so that it was important to increase the quality of domestic products and introduce them to domestic consumers through the expo event.
He said that the people needed to obtain information on the quality of domestic industries so that they would appreciate and use domestically produced products.
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry is planning to organize the PPI 2009 expo which would be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Mulyadi said that PPI this year constituted the sixth to be held and was expected to be attended by 550 companies with a total stands of 1,065.
The PPI event will included activities such as introduction of the country's primary industrial products and policies in the industrial field. It also included an event to introduce the industrial innovation capabilities with the information communications technology as its icon.
"All products that will be displayed are those produced at home by workers who are all Indonesian natives," Mulyadi said.***2***
