VP ATTENDS ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY IN SITUBONDO

Surabaya, Indonesia, May 13 (ANTARA) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to attend the anniversary of Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Islamic Boarding School in Situbondo, East Java, on Wednesday.

Before attending the event in Situbondo, the vice president would start his one-day visit to East Java by visiting Miftachus Akhyar Islamic Boarding School on Kedung Tarukan street in Surabaya to meet its leader, KH Miftahul Akhyar.

After the meeting, Kalla would be flown on a helicopter to Situbondo to attend the Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Islamic Boarding School's anniversary, and then returns to Surabaya to dedicate Nahdlatul Ulama Disaster Mitigation and Preventive Board (BP2BNU) in the afternoon.

Before returning to Jakarta, the vice president is also scheduled to visit former East Java Governor Mohammad Noer, and then hold a meeting with local Muslim clerics and the merchants from Madura island.

Kalla would end his visit in Surabaya by holding a meeting with Golkar Party cadres.

In his one-day visit to East Java on Wednesday, the vice president is accompanied by his secretary Tursandi Alwi and his deputy for people's welfare affairs Azumardy Azra, special staff Syahrul Ujud, Golkar Secretary General Sumarsono, Priyo Budi Santoso, Syamsul Ma'arif, and Yahya Zaini.***
