New COVID-19 Cases In Malaysia Hit Record High Of 15,902

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- New COVID-19 cases in Malaysia hit an all-time high of 15,902 Saturday, the second consecutive day of infections breaching the 15,000 mark, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. This brings the cumulative total for positive cases to 996,393 since the pandemic broke out early last year. Friday, Malaysia recorded 15,573 cases, with 144 deaths and 30 new clusters. In a Twitter post, he said Selangor again topped the list with 7,351 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,406 cases. “A total of 867 cases were recorded in Kedah, followed by Johor (804), Sabah (712), Melaka (631), Negeri Sembilan (625), Penang (505) and Kelantan (502),” he added. Other states registering three digits are Perak with 469 cases, Pahang (406), Terengganu (267) and Sarawak (261), while Putrajaya had 59, Labuan (30) and Perlis (seven). -- BERNAMA
