PD NOT WORRIED ABOUT PROSPECTIVE COALITION PARTNERS` MANEUVERS
Jakarta, May 13 (ANTARA) - The Democratic Party (PD) is not worried about the maneuvers of its four prospective coalition partners in reaction to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's intention to name Boediono as his running mate in the upcoming presidential race, a spokesman said.
"We already know the political map. Anyway, we can already foresee how things will develop in relation with the four political parties," that have aligned themselves with PD, a PD associate chairman, Ahmad Mubarok, said in a dialogue forum themed "Reading A Change in the Coalition Map" here on Wednesday.
Moderated by Suradi of the Koran Jakarta, the dialoque was also attended by a member of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction in the House of Representatives, Agus Purnomo, and an associate chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP), Maruarar Sirait.
Mubarok said until now PD's alliance with the four other political parties had not been formalized in a document signed by the party leaders. What they had done so far was only conducting political communication, and making an oral commitment to coalesce.
"There is no signed coalition document," Mubarok added.
However, PD was continuing to build political communication with the four parties, namely the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the United Development Party (PPP), he said.
Mubarok said the political communication PD was continuing to conduct with the four other parties was based in the understanding that in the presidential system of government, the appointment of a vice president andministers was the prerogative of the president. So far, the PD's political relations and communications with the other parties were still running well, he added.
Therefore, the Democratic Party was not worried about the latest political developments in which the elites of the four political parties had reacted negatively to Yudhoyono's plan to name Boediono as his running mate.
Mubarok said Boediono's appointment as Yudhoyono's running mate could now be considered as "99 percent certain with the remaining one percent in God's hands."
About the question of why Yudhoyono had chosen Boediono, Mubarak said "only Yudhoyono knows the answer." ***
