PKS TO JOIN ANOTHER COALITION IF COMMUNICATION WITH SBY FAILS

Jakarta, May 14 (ANTARA) -The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) will pursue another coalition alternative if its communication with the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) camp ends in deadlock, a spokesman said.

Speaking to the press here on Thursday, PKS Secretary General Anis Matta said the party was still trying to overcome the problem with Yudhoyono's camp.

"But if the problem remains unsolved beyond the limits of our tolerance, PKS will immediately pursue an alternative coalescing course which we have already prepared," Anis Matta said.

Asked what the alternative course was, Matta said it would be revealed within the next few days.

He added that PKS had made intensive political communication with other parties such as the Megawati Soekarnoputri and Parabowo camp as well as the Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto camp.

Anis Matta said PKS would possibly form a new bloc with other political parties or switch its support to the Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto pair.

"We respect Jusuf Kalla because he is consistent in running for president although based on surveys so far he is an 'underdog,'" Matta said.

Meanwhile, chairman of the PKS faction at the House of Representatives Mahfudz Siddiq said the main problem between his party and Yudhoyono's camp was not related with his choice of central bank Governor Boediono as his running mate but with the system of communication that would be built.

Siddiq said all along Yudhoyono had heralded his partnership with the political parties that support him.

But as time went by, Yudhoyoho eventually violated his commitment by making a strategic decision on his own.

Mahfudz Siddiq said the PKS would decide what further steps it would take independently and without being influenced by other political parties.***
