Seoul stocks up 1.13 pct in late morning

SEOUL, May 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 1.13 percent higher late Friday morning as investors hunted for bargains following a steep loss in the previous session, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stick Price Index (KOSPI) rose 15.60 points to
1,396.55 as of 11:20 a.m.
Following a 2.37-percent loss on Thursday, bargain hunting fueled the market
gain. Most sectors traded in positive territory with market leader Samsung
Electronics Co. rising 0.72 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,263.25 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., up 3.95 won from Thursday's close, boosted by foreign investors' buying of
local stocks.
