DEMOCRATS CAPABLE OF CONVINCING ALL COALITION PARTIES ON BOEDIONO
Manado, Indonesia, May 15 (ANTARA) - The Democratic Party was optimistic that it was able to convince the all party coalitions on the appointment of Budiono as the running mate of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The remark was made by the Party's Chairman for Human Resources Andi Malarangeng here on Thursday evening.
All party coalitions of the Democratic Party would accept and support the appointment of Boediono as the running mate, he said, adding that his party continued to explain the parties wishing to support the re-election of Yudhoyono.
In his detailed clarification, Andi believed that all party coalitions will be able to accept and continue support the coalition.
"Perhaps one party coalition still needs further clarification on the choice on Budiono, we wish to provide more explanations this afternoon," he said.
According to him, PKS continued opening the door for cooperation with all parties. "All will be regarded as friends both before and after the presidential election."
He further disclosed that the Democratic Party could cooperate with all parties. "We hope that the presidential election will run peacefully and we can compete build cooperation after that." he said.
Therefore, Andi hoped that at the time the Yudhoyono-Boediono pair is officially declared in Bandung Friday evening, all friendly coalition partners were ready to give their support.
The vice presidential candidate chosen by Yudhoyono was the right person and could be accepted by all parties, and the people. He has a strong commitment and capable of answering all challenges confronting the people amid the ongoing crisis.
Earlier, Anas Urbaningrum, a senior member of Yudhoyono's Democratic Party said the president would remain steadfast in his decision. "If any of our coalition friends can not understand and accept the explanations, we have no right to force them to join the coalition.
He also believed that the parties are committed to prioritizing the national interest rather than political one.***
