Al-Eiban hails Kingdom`s re-election in UN Human Rights Council
Riyadh, May 16, SPA -- Dr Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Eiban, the Head of
the Human Rights Commission, has expressed happiness over the
re-election of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the second successive
three-year term for the membership of the Council of Human Rights of
the United Nations on behalf of the Asian continent.
"Such a development would not have taken place without the calls of
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to
conduct constructive dialogue with various nations and his wise
policy which has enhanced the Kingdom's position and its vital role
at the regional and international arenas".
"Moreover, the King has worked to enhance the pillars of justice and
equality and ensure the legitimate rights as well as protect the
human rights in a manner that enables the various societies preserve
their particularities and moral and cultural values in line with the
concepts of human rights.
On the other hand, he lauded the Kingdom's pioneering role as
regards Arab, Islamic and international causes notably the
Palestinian problem.
Dr Al-Eiban also attributed this achievement to the Kingdom's
efforts as regards bringing about peace in the region and solving the
problems of poverty and improving the situation in the developing
countries in addition to narrowing the gap among the civilizations
and religions through constructive dialogue.
He highlighted the Kingdom’s role as regards enhancing the
principles of justice, tolerance and discarding the policies of
violence, injustice and racial segregation.
Dr al-Eiban said the re-election of the Kingdom constitutes a great
responsibility on the part of Saudi Arabia and will encourage it to
work for spreading the culture of justice and moderation.
