JK-WIN DUO PROMISES TO BUILD SELF-RELIANT PEOPLE`S ECONOMY
Jakarta, May 16 (ANTARA) - The Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto (JK-Win) pair of presidential and vice-presidential hopefuls have promised to build a self-reliant people's economy serving the interests of all people in the country.
"We (JK-Win) are seriously committed to developing a fair and self-reliant community," presidential aspirant Jusuf Kalla said in his political statement before registering at the General Election Commission (KPU) for the upcoming presidential election.
Kalla said to achieve the national goals, the people's economy should be improved.
"The way to realize the national goals is by developing a self-reliant national economy serving the interests of all the people of Indonesia," Kalla said.
He said examples of people's economic activities that needed to be developed were the country's traditional markets such as the Tanah Abang and Klewer markets.
"The people should be fully involved in the economy, and the number of traditional markets should be increased and used to sustain the national economy," Kalla said.
He said the people's economy concept should be implemented if the country was to make economic progress as it was the people's economy that had saved the nation from economic crises in past years.
"If we are elected, we will, God willing, keep our promises. The faster, the better. We are the first pair to declare ourselves, to coalesce and to register. The People's Conscience Party (Hanura)'s electoral identification number is one and the Golkar Party's is 23, so vote for one, two, three," he said.
Meanwhile, Kalla's running mate Wiranto said that the measure of economic success did not lie in indicators shown in numbers but in the economic progress of individuals as the subject of economic development.
The JK-Win pair of presidential and vice-presidential aspirants were the first to register at the KPU office here on Saturday.***
