TNI SOLDIER BEATEN TO DEATH BY POLICEMAN
Cimahi, Indonesia, May 16 (ANTARA) - A National Defense Forces (TNI) soldier of Army Battalion 312 in Cimahi, West Java, Asep Ridwan (29), was beaten to death by a Bandung police officer in a quarrel here on Saturday.
Met at Cibabat Hospital here, Cucu Hartini, the sister of Asep Ridwan, said her younger brother died after the policeman kicked him on the head.
"Asep actually wanted to come between Kiki Sudrajat, his brother, and the policeman after they got into an argument but the policeman then turned against Asep and hit him," Hartini said.
She said the quarrel happened after the motorcycle ridden by Asep Ridwan and Kiki Sudrajat brushed against the policeman's car at an intersection of Pesantren street in Cimahi town on Saturday morning.
The policeman then got off his car and scolded Kiki Sudrajat. Asep wanted to intervene but the policeman hit him and kicked him in the back of his head.
After the policeman had kicked the back of his head, Asep fell to the ground where he remained motionless.
Bystanders then took Asep to Cibabat Hospital but he died before reaching the hospital in Cimahi.
His body was then sent to Dustira Army Hospital in Cimahi for an autopsy, while Kiki Sudrajat who sustained severe injuries was now under intensive treatment at Cibabat Hospital's emergency unit.***
