YUDHOYONO HOPES LEGISLATIVE ELECTION PROBLEMS SOLVED PROPERLY
Jakarta, May 16 (ANTARA) - Democratic Party presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed hope that the problems that marred the recent legislative elections such as irregularities in voters' lists can be duly solved.
"I believe problems like inaccurate voters' lists (DPTs) can be settled and will not disrupt the upcoming presidential race. The KPU has done a lot with support from many parties," he said in his speech when registerig his candidacy with the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Saturday along with his running mate, Boediono, the former central bank governor.
He was flanked by Boediono while delivering the speech before attendees including the leaders of 22 political parties that had pledged to support his candidacy.
Yudhoyono said he was aware that the system and the regulations for the implementation of the general elctions this time were complicated.
However, by working hard KPU as well as the general elections supervisory board (Bawaslu) and political parties he hoped the implementation of the presidential election later would run peacefully, orderly and democratically.
On the occasion Yudhoyono, who is the current president, thanked for the support and suggestions from supporting political parties which, according to him, were encouraging and strengthening his determination as well as the determanation of his running mate to meet the race.
"Everthing we do is for the interest of all the people. We hope for your blessings," he said.
Yudhoyono said he hoped the competition later, howhard it would be, could remain peaceful, orderly, respectful and fair to assure peace among the people and to give a good political lesson to the people.***
