CANDIDATES TO UNDERGO HEALTH CHECKS SUNDAY, MONDAY
Jakarta, May 16 (ANTARA) - Presidential and vice presidential candidates who registered with the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Saturday to contest the July 8 election are required to have their health conditions checked.
As stipulated in the general election law, they have to have their health conditions checked to see if they are fit enough for carrying out their future tasks.
The Golkar Party's candidate, Jusuf Kalla, and his running mate, Wiranto, are scheduled to undergo their health checks at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital on Sunday.
"The health checks on Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto are scheduled to start at 7.30 am," KPU official I Gusti Putu Artha said after Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto registered with the KPU.
The health examination would take around 10 hours and be done by a team of specialists including internists, heart specialists, urologists, neurologists, eye, ear, nose and neck specialists.
They will also be checked with regard to their mental conditions while personality tests will be done using the Minnesota Multiphasix Personality Inventory, he said.
Megawati Soekarnoputri, the candidate from the Indonesia Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP), and her running mate, Prabowo Subiantoro, meanwhile are scheduled to undergo the health checks also on Sunday.
The health checks on Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the candidate of the Democratic Party, and his running mate , Boediono, meanwhile are scheduled for Monday.
After the tests are done, doctors would meet to report the results for dicussion at a plenary meeting.
The results of the examinations by the team are final and cannot be compared with the results of tests done by others outside the team.***
