YUDHOYONO ASKS PARTNERS TO PRACTICE CLEAN, UPRIGHT POLITICS
Jakarta, May 16 (ANTARA) - The Democratic Party's chief patron, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, asked parties coalescing with his party to practice clean, smart and upright politics in relation with the presidential election on July 8.
"I hope that we continue to practice clean politics , no matter how fierce the competiton becomes. Let us also conduct smart politics," he said at a meeting with the leaders of 22 political parties that have pledged to support him in the race.
He said the people had already seen various challenges the country was facing and they all wished for their leaders to find a solution to the problems.
"That is smart politics that offers solutions to the problems. The third is let us practice upright politics. Let us do everything precisely, no more no less, and proportionately. With these principles in mind let us combine our energy, potentials, and power to win the election," he said.
Yudhoyono said 23 parties were a potential and a huge force to ensure victory although correct strategy and tactics would still be needed also based on good political principles and norms.
He said after registering with the General Elections Commission (KPU) and having his health condition checked on Monday he would start distributing the task for all parties in the coalition to ensure the smooth implementation of the plan to win the election.
"After that, we will form a success team which is actually about how we organize ourselves jointly to make a success of the election. There we will see who does what and who is responsible for what and others. What is important is to ensure that no overlapping happens or that things that we must synergize or synchronize and coordinate with a unity of command. We must organize our effort well to achieve good results," he said.
