Sales of Samsung's full touchscreen phones top 20 million worldwide



SEOUL, May 17 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's second-largest
handset maker, said Sunday that global sales of its full touchscreen phones have
surpassed 20 million units.
The company launched its first full touchscreen mobile phones in Europe in
January 2008.
While sales of the first 10 million units were made over last year, the
additional 10 million units were sold within first five months this year, the
company said in a statement.
The South Korean company has been capturing top positions in popularity rankings
for the world's mobile phone markets thanks to its aggressive sales efforts.
Samsung Electronics has been increasing its market presence in the U.S. and
Europe by targeting the premium phone category, including full touchscreen phones
and smartphones.
