S. Korean volleyball player signs with Japanese club

SEOUL, May 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korean female volleyball star Kim Yun-kyung will
play with JT Marvelous of Japan's professional Premier League, her South Korean
team said Monday.

The 21-year-old player signed with the Japanese club to play for two years on
loan from the beginning of the 2009-2010 season, said Ahn Byung-sam, head of
Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders.
Details of the contract were not disclosed.
Kim, who won the Player of the Year award in 2008, will be the first female South
Korean athlete to play in the Japanese league.
The Japanese club finished second in the 2006-2008 seasons but ranked 10th last
season.
Kim will join the new team in September, Ahn said.
