SBY NOT TO FORM SHADOW CABINET



Jakarta, May 19 (ANTARA) - Incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will during his bid for reelection in the upcoming presidential race not form a shadow cabinet, his spokesman said.

Democratic Party's human resources development chairman Andi Malarangeng made the statement in response to a discourse that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates would form e shadow cabinets as a strategy during their election campaigns.

"Pak SBY does not want to do things ahead of their proper time. He does not want to talk about a cabinet because the election has not been conducted and has not yet won, and the cabinet will be considered as a power sharing effort," Malarangeng said.

According to Malarangeng, Yudhoyono had all along told his partners in the political parties that wanted to coalesce that discussions on the cabinet's composition would be held after the presidential election had ended in his favor.

"Pak SBY has told his coalition partners that the formation of a cabinet will not be discussed until after the presidential election," Malarangeng said.

However, he let other presidential and vice presidential candidates to do so if they wanted to.

"If other presidential and vice presidential candidates want to fore shadow cabinets, it is up to them but Yudhoyono will not," Malarangeng said.
